How low: Salvos report theft

7/08/2008 10:51:00 AM
VOLUNTEERS at the Salvation Army have been left scratching their heads after a thief stole an amplifier valued at $400 from the store.

The amplifier was taken sometime between Thursday afternoon last week and Monday 2pm this week from the Wauchope store in Young Street.

A volunteer first discovered the amplifier was missing at about 2pm on Monday and a search of the store found that it had been stolen.

A volunteer dusted the shop just before closing on Thursday and dusted the amplifier as part of her clean up.

The theft has left the volunteers disappointed.

“We are upset that the goods are gone,” Adrian Lord from the Salvation Army said.

“But we are not angry with the person that has taken them.

“The Salvation Army try to help as many people in the community and for something like this to happen has disappointed us greatly.

The amplifier was displayed in a very visible spot in the shop at the front of the window display.

The thief left behind a subwoofer speaker and waited until a volunteer went out the back to help another customer.

The Salvation army are hopeful they might get the amplifier back.

“It would be great to get the amplifier back.” Mr Lord said.

“If the person that has taken the amplifier would like to return it they can do so at the Salvation Army store in Wauchope and no questions will be asked.

“Also if anyone might know the whereabouts of the amplifier we urges them to let us know.”
