WAUCHOPE Rotary held its 56th annual Changeover dinner on last Tuesday night with a new Board announced.
The was kicked off by Neville Parsons and highlights included John Meldrum receiving the Paul Harris Fellow for his services to Rotary and incoming president Reg Pierce’s first speech as president.
More than 60 members and partners attended the night.
John Betts, Ron Dures, Bob Gilligan, Frank Harrison, Will Jamieson, John Meldrum, Raelene Monkley, Terry Moore, Tony Morton, Andy Neil, Neville Parsons, Reg Pierce, Phil Snow, Stuart Weir, Kevin Whitbread, Marie Winter and John Wright all received 100% attendance awards.
Outgoing president Will Jamieson commended the work of all Rotary members who took to the 2007-2008 theme ‘Rotary Shares’ with vigour and helped him carry out his duties as president.
He praised the work of new members Bob King and Jason Manning and paid tribute to one of Rotary’s most faithful and committed members in Jack Eggert.
He thanked the whole Rotary for their support and encouragement as well as his wife and Board for their help.
“One of the joys of Rotary is the building of friendships and the way that everyone works together which keeps you coming back each week,” he said.
“We again donated significant funds to the work of rotary as well as many hours of service which would prove quite the task to tally these up.
“It was a privilege to lead the Wauchope Rotary and I look forward to continuing this service in the years ahead.”
Some of the services and projects that Rotary took part in include Clean Up Australia, Australia Day, Bowel Scan, the Public Speaking competition, the RYAG events and one-offs like the opening of the Water Treatment Plant in Wauchope, the reclaimed Water Treatment Plant in Port Macquarie, Men’s Shed, Wauchope Heated Pool project, Rotary Sports Awards, Carnival of the Pines, RYLA, Lasiandra Festival and many other fundraisers.
