Kangaroos hand out lesson to Eagles

7/08/2008 11:43:00 AM
THE Riverbreeze U/14 Wauchope Kangaroos travelled up to Kempsey to take on the Macleay Valley Eagles for Round 11 of the MNCJAFL.

The Roos had come to play and controlled most of the game in the first quarter. Scott, Josh and Jaydon rebounded well from the backline to a dominant Jamie who in turn set up Matt P for 2 goals.

The second and third quarters saw both teams display great passages of play. The ball continuingly travelled from one end of the field to the other as both teams engaged in tit for tat scoring.

Callum was hard in and under at the ball and rewarded on the scoreboard. Matt W and Ray didn’t stop running all day and under pressure came up with the goods.

The final quarter saw the Wauchope team go in with a commanding lead, but they continued to press hard. Cameron P was rewarded with a major after moving back to the forward line after a spell down back.

The Roos put in a great display of shepherding and tackling that kept the pressure on and kicked away registering 4 majors in the last. Zak ran hard all day all over the ground, especially rucking against much taller opposition.

A great effort all round and well deserved win.

Final Score Port Wauchope Kangaroos 10-5-65 def Macleay Valley Eagles 2-7-19

Goal Scorers Matt Philpott 3, Jamie Williams 2, Jaydon Thompson, Cameron Pike, Josh King, Callum Wallis & Matt Wallis 1 each. Best on Ground Callum Wallis.

Next game at home at 11:15 Sunday 10th August – be there at 9am for team photos.
