MORE than 140 veteran golfers will converge on Wauchope as part of the Lower North Coast Veteran Golfer’s week of golf.
It will be a huge week of golf for both men and women with rounds of golf taking place at Wauchope as well as Kempsey in the events eighth year.
The week of golf will kick off on Monday July 28 at Kempsey golf club with the first round of the 54 hole championship, followed by further rounds at Wauchope on Tuesday and Thursday.
Players from all over New South Wales as well as Queensland and Victoria representing 42 clubs will take part in a two day eclectic championship at Wauchope.
The championship will mean the player’s best score on the one hole over the two days will be taken.
Tournament director Peter Kime is already looking forward to the event.
“We have great numbers this year,” he said.
“It will be fantastic to see some of the regular faces as well as lots of new faces hitting the course.
“We get a lot of visiting golfers coming back year after year which is a good sign.
The event is open to local golfers with AGU or WGU handicaps and the overall championship perpetual trophy donated by Port Macquarie Trophies will be awarded to the Champion Man and Woman.
There will also be individual prizes for each day presented to Men (A B and C grade) and women in A and B grade.
The Wauchope golf course is in great condition for the event and will provide some great golfing during the week.
The event will culminate with a presentation dinner at the Wauchope Country Club on Thursday night.
