Rovers prove just too good

14/08/2008 10:38:00 AM
WAUCHOPE men took on a very strong Rovers side on Saturday in the latest round of the Hastings Valley Hockey Association competition.

Rovers got off to a good start scoring early and dominating play for the first ten minutes before a good goal from Mark Hughes lead the Wauchope charge.

Glen Pursehouse made the most of a short corner to give Wauchope the lead.

Rovers hit back with 2 goals just before the break against a tiring Wauchope.

The second half was equally strong with Rovers proving too good scoring twice more. Stephen Sloane finished off some good lead up work by Paul Mason to make it 5-3.

B Grade Women’s Wauchope Wapiti team played the competition leaders Crescent Head on Saturday night.

Wapiti began very strongly and were rewarded with goals to Lauren Dickinson, Joanne Beames and two to Allana Donald for a 4-0 half time lead.

Wauchope continued to control possession with good changes of direction and finished the game at 5-0 after a field goal to Brooke Brazier. Allana Donald had a very good game on the wing for Wauchope.

Winunga had their game against Rovers deferred and the A Grade Warriors won on a forfeit against AllStars.
